Northumberland is the least populated
county in Britain, so lots of countryside!
For spectacular go to Hadrian,s Wall
or walk under the waterfall at Ashgill.
For natural history, red squirrels nearly
come into our garden but more
regular are the woodpeckers and
gold finches. If you like fishing, the
South Tyne and Low Mills Fish Farm are
close by. We have museums too;
Beamish open air museum, Bowes famous for its animated
silver swan, and the mining attractions of Nenthead and
Killhope. Some of our favourite gardens of the whole country
are here: The quarry garden at Belsay, Wallington walled
garden, and the Station Garden
at Langley. Nearby is Englands
highest market town -
has a little steam railway which
one day will come all the way
to Slaggyford. And if you must,
there is golf at Alston, highest in
Country, and also at Brampton.
